DescriptionThis volume contains material relating to Jesuit missions in East Anglia, namely Market Rasen, Lincoln, Bolton and Norwich. The volume also briefly covers an account of events that took place at New Hall Convent, near Chelmsford (the order of the Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre). The volume primarily contains letters as well as some financial accounts, conveyances, certificates for places of religious worship and some architectural plans. In particular, the volume covers: bequests made in support of the mission at Market Rasen and details regarding the conveyance of a piece of land there; an account of the miraculous cure of a nun at the New Hall Convent near Chelmsford; plans and discussion of the proposed enlargement of the chapel at Lincoln including tenders; Ministeria Spiritualia for the mission at Norwich, 1868-1887, including a short history of the early mission; correspondence relating to the Duke of Norfolk's efforts to build a new church in Norwich and the subsequent acrimonious departure of the Society from the Willow Lane chapel in the city. The greater part of the volume is concerned with the situation in Norwich.
