| Description | The Farm St Church Appeal was launched in the 1979 to raise £200,000 for repairing roofs and fabric, preserving the sanctuary, restoring the organ, establishing a music fund, and improving fire protection in the community house. Local businesses, residents, visitors, parishioners and other individuals were approached for donations. In the late 1980s a second appeal was made to raise funds for the roof, which was suffering from dry rot. In this instance rather than launching a public appeal, those who had donated previously were contacted again for further support. The majority of material in these files is correspondence, with lists of donors and people contacted, as well as publicity material, particularly the exhibition of Fr Knott SJ's artwork. |
