DescriptionThe collection of personal papers contains spiritual, mathematical and scientific notes as well as some of his publications and some certificates.
Admin_HistoryHenry Macklin was born on 18th October 1894 in Wimbledon. He went to Wimbledon College. He entered the Society of Jesus on 7 September 1911 and went to St Mary’s Hall to study philosophy, then Plater’s Hall, Oxford, to study astronomy. He was ordained as on 17 July 1927.

He studied theology at Milltown Park and did his tertianship at St Beuno’s.

He then returned to Stonyhurst to teach mathematics, where he had taught after Oxford, and remained there for the rest of his life, interrupted only by war service.

In 1939 he became an army chaplain, spending the war on troopships and hospital ships.

He died at the age of 90 on 10th January 1985.
