Canon John Stapleton was a priest of Arundel and Brighton Diocese. He first attended the junior seminary at Mark Cross (1938-40) and then trained for the priesthood at Wonersh. He was ordained on 31 May 1947. The first 12 years after ordination were spent as a teacher, after which he became a radio producer at the BBC. His career continued around broadcasting and he was a tutor at the Catholic Radio Centre at Hatch End, and Head of the Communications Department at the seminary. Music was a great interest and he played the organ. He died on 2 January 2011.
