Description
Edward Escarguel was the first priest to be ordained at St. John's Seminary, Wonersh, 29 June 1896.. He was one of the first boys at the seminary in Henfield and had known Francis Bourne who was his rector at Wonersh and ordained him. He was parish priest of Holy Cross, Catford, London.
A copper and silver-plate crucifix and candlesticks were presented to the Seminary in his honour. See the Rector's Diary ( SJW/ADM/1/2/1, p. 342).
