Description | In 1930 the setting up of the historical section of the Congregation of Rites facilitated an integrated method of enquiry into sanctity of causes for canonisation. Mgr. Philip Hallett, Rector of St. John's Seminary at the time, was vice-postulator for the cause of canonisation of Bl. Thomas More and Bl. John Fisher. He studied evidence from their writings, encouraged popular devotion and gathered accounts of miracles attributed to their intercession. The documents in this series reflect this work. |
