This nineteenth century building pictured by Anson was used as a temporary home for St. Peter’s Seminary, whose building had been damaged by a fire in the mid nineteen forties; one can see a novice walking in the ground before the house

An area of land called Kirkton of Kilmahew was acquired by the Archidiocese of Glasgow in 1948. The site was one of early Celtic Church activity, with evidence of an early stone chapel from that time, dedicated to St. Mahew, a follower of St. Patrick. Car
