DescriptionChristian Co-operation: "Very important Correspondence". Includes correspondence, minutes of meetings and statements issued by the Sword of the Spirit relating to a series of conferences held between Representatives of the Commission of the Churches and the Sword of the Spririt, the first being held on 27 November 1942. A Joint Statement on Christian Co-operation was drafted after the first meeting and published after agreement from all the representatives at a meeting held on 24 January 1942. The Joint Statement was the subject of much debate between the various religious denominations, resulting in the Press reception at the Waldorf Hotel to formally announce the Joint Statement being postponed from April to May 1942. There is also correspondence relating to the arrival of Dr Henry Lieper, Secretary of the Federal Council of Churches in America.
