DescriptionRev Herbert Keldany was born on 29 July 1907 in Cairo, the son of a judge. He was educated at St Edmund's, Ware, and later Worcester College, Oxford. He then became a Barrister of the Inner Temple where he worked with Richard O'Sullivan, who he would later join as a Member of the Council for Sword of the Spirit. Keldany entered the Collegio Beda in Rome in 1933 and was ordained on 27 May 1937 at the Lateran Basilica by Archbishop Traglia.

Following his ordination, he became Assistant National Director, Pontifical Mission Aid Societies (1937-40); Curate, Islington (1940-53); National Director, Newman Association (1953-64); Parish Priest, Harrow-on-the-Hill (1964-66); Ecumenical Commission (1966-83), based at Hampstead and, from 1967, Catholic Central Library.

Fr Keldany was Chairman of the Publications Sub-Committee of the Sword of the Spirit. After retirement, he continued to live at Clergy House, and died on 22 October 1988 aged 81. This file comprises mainly pamphlets published by the Sword of the Spirit, together with a couple of items of correspondence and notes for a talk he gave on the Parish Mission on 5th March 1944 to the Wimbledon branch of Sword of the Spirit
