DescriptionIllustrated journal of St Edmund's College, Ware. Vol XVIII, Nos 118-129. The continued ill-health of Cardinal Bourne prevented his usual attendance at the St Edmund's Day celebrations in November 1933. The April 1934 edition includes an article on Edmundian skating and a description of the performance of 'The Private Secretary' with a photograph of the cast. The July 1934 journal commemorated the work of Cardinal Francis Bourne at St Edmund's in honour of the 50th anniversary of his ordination as a priest, while the April 1935 edition commemorated his death on 1 January 1935. The July 1935 journal marked the first official visit to St Edmund's by the new Archbishop of Westminster, Mgr Hinsley. The December 1935 edition included an article on the recently uncovered medieval paintings in Norwich Cathedral, in particular the portrait of St Richard of Chichester. The May 1936 isse marked the death of George V and includes a photograph of the new king, Edward VIII, as well as an artivle on the early days of St Hugh's, the school house for junior boys. The December 1936 issue marked the resignation of Dr Purdie, who had succeeded Fr Tim Healy as Headmaster of the School, and the appointment of Fr Thomas Sherlock as the new Headmaster. The May 1937 issue includes a photograph of Fr Sherlcok, as well as Rev L A Clark, Editor of the Edmundian from 1927-1937. This issue also includes an article on Catholic Action in Holland by H W van Boxel, and an article on 'Witches and Warlocks' by Derek Worlock. The July 1937 issue marked the coronation of George VI in May and, as with other issues in the same volume there are photographs of members of the OTC (Officers Training Corps), including one of Derek Worlock in a group portrait of the the 1937 Shooting VIII.
