DescriptionIllustrated journal of St Edmund's College, Ware. Vol XIX, Nos 130 -132. The December 1937 issue marked the nomination of Archbishop Hinsley as a Cardinal, as well as restoration works in the College and the first broadcast service on Sunday 18 July 1937 from the College Chapel with a copy of the address given by the Very Rev Canon G D Smith. There is also an article on 'Music in College and School' with photographs of the corps of drums in competition. The April 1938 issue includes photographs of Cardinal Hinsley, who made his first official visit since his elevation to the Sacred College on 30 January 1938, and former Edmundian Peter Amigo, Bishop of Southwark, who was made Archbishop of the diocese by the Pope in 1937. The issue also includes an article on Silkstead, the earliest incarnation of St Edmund's College, which opened in 1688 and was closed in 1696. The July 1938 issue marked the silver jubilee of the President of the College, the Rt Rev Mgr Canon Francis P Bickford, MC VG. The issue also includes a photograph of Cardinal Hinsley receiving guests at the annual Garden Party, and a description of the 41st Annual Conference of Catholic Headmasters hosted by Fr Thomas Sherlock.. The issue includes a description of a performance of 'Julius Caesar' in modern dress, with Derek Worlock performing the role of Cassius. There are also photographs of the annual inspection of the OTC by Major General R M Luckock, and an illustrated article on Hare Street House, the former country home of the Archbishop of Westminster, gifted by Mgr Robert Hugh Benson.
