DescriptionIllustrated journal of St Edmund's College, Ware. Vol XXI, Nos 143-149. Almost every issue has a list of former Edmundians serving in the armed forces, including whether they had been decorated, mentioned in despatches, captured, wounded, killed on active service or were missing in action. There are also obituaries for those killed in action. The Autumn 1945 edition includes a tribte to Canon Arendze, Spiritual Father at the College, on his golden jubilee and an obiturary for the Rev Thomas Sherlock, former Headmaster of the College, and the Rev Francis Kelly, former Chaplain. No 147 describes visits by Cardinal Griffin and Cardinal Gilroy, Archbishop of Sydney, to the College in March 1946 as well as a tribute to Rev Paul N Zamitt, OP, foremer professor of philosophy and sociology at the College, as well as articles on Richard Challoner. This issue also includes a final list of Old Edmundians who served in the forces during the Second World War, and a roll of honour of those killed or wouinded in action, killed on active service, missing in action, prisoners of war, and one A. Frohlich who died in a concentration camp. There is also list of those who received war honours. No 148 has a tribute to Mgr Bickford, the 18th President of the College and a message from his successor, J B Bagshawe. Issue No 149 includes an essay on Thomas Griffiths, Vicar Apostolic of the London District, and an eye witness account by a crew member of a destroyer rescuing survivors of a torpedoed civilian ship.
