DescriptionIllustrated journal of St Edmund's College, Ware. Vol XXIII, Nos 158-163. Issue No 158 includes commentary on the death of King George VI, an official School inspection and a review of the performance of 'King Lear'. There are obituaries for Canon Christopher J McKenna, Canon Joseph Reaerdon, Dr Ernest C Messenger, Fr Patrick J Murray and Reginald White. the 'Old Boys' Notes' includes mentions of former Edmundians serving overseas, including one expelled from China in 1950 and others serving in Malaya. There is an illustrated description of the on the new library facilities.

Issue No 159 includes a tribute to Mgr J B Bagshawe, who retired as President of the College in 1952, and his replacement, Canon Reginald Butcher. There is also a tribute to Rt Rev Mgr Canon George D Smith, who retired from the School in 1952 and became Rector of St Patrick's, Soho Square. There is also an article on the centenary of the first cricket match played at the College, as well as obituaries for Fr John J Wall, Fr William G Wall, Canon Francis W Gilbert, and Paul Dewar.

Issue No 160 comments on the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and contributions towards the flood damage from the 1953 North Sea floods, which had affected some former Edmundians. There is a description of the celebrations for St Edmund's Day including the sermon preached by Mgr Canon G D Smith, and reviews of performances of 'Trial by Jury' by Gilbert & Sullivan, 'Arsenic and Old Lace' by Joseph Kesselring, and 'Hamlet'. There is an obituary for Paul Dewar from his Commanding Officer in the Navy, and Fr Peter C Hughes.

Issue No 161 commemorates the the double centenary of the College Chapel and the Edmundian Association and describes renovation works carried out on the College buildings. There are obituary notices for Donald Napier Hemy, Leonard Longstaff, Fr Francis L Hacket, Fr Callaghan Joseph Irwin, Fr Austin M Oates, Charles Bernard Goulden (a leading opthalmologist), and Michael MacNamara. There is also a letter to the editor describing the old College fire enginge which the school presented to the Fire Brigade Museum.

Issue No 162 carries a tribute and obituary for Canon E J Mahoney, former Professor of Moral Theology at the College. There is also an article on Bishop James Talbot, who founded St Edmund's, the broadcast of Vespers on the Home Service in February 1953, and a description of the celebrations of St Edmund's Day. There is an article on the Crimean Window in teh College Chapel, commemorating the three Catholic army chaplians who died serving in the Crimean War. There are also obituary notices for Mgr F Kerr McClement, Lt Col Hubert Thomas Dempster, and Edward Wilford. There is a review of a performance of 'The Pirates of Penzance' by Gilbert & Sullivan.

Issue no 163 includes comments on the heavy rainfall expereinced during the summer of 1954, an article on the origins of the Edmundian idion, 'by your toe', a tribute to Canon John Arendzen and obituaries for Canon Basil E Booker and Sydney John Harvey.
