Description	In accordance with Can. 495 of the Code of Canon Law and the policy of the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales, there exists in the Diocese of Westminster a group of priests who represent the presbyterium. The council's role is to assist the Bishop in the governance of the diocese, so that the pastoral welfare of the people of the Diocese may be best promoted. Its membership comprises elected and ex-officio officers of the Diocese and it meets twice a year. The Council has a consultative vote only, but the Archbishop consults the Council on serious matters concerning the well-being of priests, their ministry and evangelisation throughout the diocese. The papers within the Council of Priests Series, reflect this work.
