DescriptionLetter to H[erbert Vaughan] discussing problems in Sydney [possibly relating to Edmund Vaughan’s attempt to become Archbishop] reference is made to a letter of Archbishop Polding to Fr O’Sulliavan also Manning mentions his translation of the Veni Sancte Spiritus and the problems with the Dryden translation. Manning also mentions Ranken, who is in Paris, and Cox who is “riding to the Devil” but it is not clear to whom this refers possibly John Cox and George Elliot Ranken who were associated with the Tablet. The whole may refer to the coverage of the Home Rule.
