Chaper III page 63 is entitled 'The New Mission, under the invocation of St Alexis, founded by the Rev. Hardinge Ivers at Kentish Town'. It gives biographical details of Rev Ivers, including his well-to-do background and education, as well as his efforts to establish the Catholic church of St Alexis in Kentish Town. The account descibes the parading of the Blessed Sacrament in procession through Kentish Town, possibly for the first time since the Reformation, and the animosity of some of the local shopkeepers and the local vicar, Rev R B Paul. There is a reference to Rev Ivers assisting the crew of the quarantined frigate 'Eclair' when it brought 'pestlence' [yellow fever] from the East [Boa Vista].
