Description
The first item in the file is an itemised list of legal costs incurred between 1897-1901submitted to the Trustees of St Francis Schools by solicitor T H Meynell, 3-4 Lincolns Inn Fields, including correspondence with John Francis Bentley regarding building and property matters associated with the School in Hippodrome Place. The remainder of the file comprises aaccounts submitted by local builders B Colley & Sons for works carried out in 1902; correspondence from solicitor T H Meynell relating to the deed documents for the schools and Mission (1906); correspondence with Fr J A Swaby from surveyors Robinson & Parratt relating to the purchase of the Treadgold Street site for the building of a new school, and from solicitors Gibson & Usher and Gasquet, Metcalfe & Walton regarding deeds and financial security for the property, as well as the issue of death duties paid on the property (1911). Some of this correspondence is with the Rev Alex Miller of St Mary of the Angels, Bayswater.
The properties concerned are Pottery Lane, Treadgold Street and Silchester Hall.
