Description
Correspondence with Rev Alexander V Miller at St Mary of the Angels, Bayswater, from solicitors Gibson, Usher & Co and T J Robinson relating to the purchase of property in Notting Hill, for the purposes of building schools. There is also correspondence with Canon Francis M Wyndham from solicitors Gasquet, Metcalfe & Walton regarding the mortgaging of the Pottery Lane property. The file includes letters from Rev James A Swaby, St Francis of Assisi, to Fr Miller, outlining the terrible financial situation the parish of St Francis of Assis was in as a result of poor terms of a leasehold agreement on the property with Miss Emma Colley. He described the impact this would have on the intention to build schools in the parish, alluded to the impact on his own health, and offered his resignation. There is also correspondence from Osmond Bentley, itemised accounts of costs from solicitors Gasquet, Metcalfe & Walton, discussion of missing deeds, and the payment of solicitors' fees and death duties realting to the property.
The properties concerned are Pottery Lane, Treadgold Street and Silchester Hall.
