Description
The Parish of Tring was founded in 1910. The first church at Tring was built in 1913 by Fr Henry Hardy, an Anglican convert who also built churches at Berkhamstead, Boxmoor and Rickmansworth. Fr Hardy's church was a small gabled brick structure with a bell turret over the entrance. A growing parish meant that the original church eventually became inadequate, and in 1995 Anthony Delarue was appointed to construct a new church. He retained the tower , the outer walls and the footprint of the original building. Delarue created a memorial to the parish dead of the First World War, using the marble altar from the original church which he erected under the lantern. The first mass was celebrated in the new church on 11 November 1999 and the building was consecrated by Archbishop Murphy O'Connor on 16 Februrary in 2001.
