DescriptionThe parish was canonically established in 1932, when it was known as Wembley Park. It served the suburban residential development which sprang upin that area after the 1924-5 Wembley Exhibition, in particular the two estates of Preston Park and Barn Hill. Before then, it had been part of the parish of St Joseph's, Wembley.

The land on which the church is built had originally been part of South Forty Farm and was purchased by the Diocese in 1929 from G Cloke of Neasden. A dual-purpose church and hall was built on the site, which on stylistic grounds was probably designed by T. H. B. Scott. Fr Andrew Arthur was appointed as the first Parish priest and celebrated the first parish Mass on 1 November 1932.

After the Second World War a small church hall was built next to the church. After some time it was apparent that a new church would be needed, so in 1964 the architects Walters & Kerr-Bate submitted a design and estimate for building a circular church behind the new hall. However, it was decided not to proceed with this particular scheme and a steel-framed church in the 'Scandinavian' style, designed by Z. Sawiki and C. Hough, was built in 1969. The foundation stone laying ceremony fpr the current church took place on 18 October 1969 at which Bishop Patrick Casey officiated. The new church cost £48,367 and was consecrated by Cardinal Hume on 21 January 1979. An organ was installed in 1974.
