Description
The volume primarily contains correspondence concerned with financial and legal matters relating to Farm Street Church and properties on Mount Street, further building works undertaken on Farm Street Church and Mount Street, and also includes documents such as accounts, invoices and receipts, architect's sketches and building plans. The volume contains material related to: - the employment of the architect Henry Clutton, the sculptors Thomas Earp and Theodore Phyffers, and the artist Peter Molitor, for the design and construction of the Sacred Heart Chapel - the employment of the architect A E Purdie to direct further alterations and additions to Farm Street Church, his reports and accounts - the tax status of the Farm Street and Mount Street properties - the rental of properties on Mount Street and the construction of a residence adjoining Farm Street Church. The volume concludes with a series of letters concerned with the unsuccessful attempt by solicitors acting on behalf of the Society to have the rent on the residence at 114 Mount Street reduced.
