Description	Material relating to the first appeal, including: correspondence, minutes, annual report of the Historic Churches Preservation Trust 1977, deeds of covenance, records of the sale of Johnson & Johnson shares, records of receipts from Mrs Gerry Jay, Mine Safety Appliance shares, the Simpson Foundation, royalties for beakers at St James' House, Floral Street, and Bell Canada shares. Many of the letters appealing for donations were written by Brigadier Gordon Viner, a convert to Catholicism in WW2, and chairman of the Church council.
