Admin_History | Bernard Weatherhead was born on the 23 November 1901, in Barbados. He joined the noviceship 5 November 1922 at Roehampton and was ordained in 1933. He served as an Army chaplain for the final three years of the Second World War and after this spent much of his life in Liverpool and Lancashire, with spells of parish work at Leigh (1945-48) and St Francis Xavier's, Liverpool (1954-59), eventually becoming an excurrens based mostly at Blackpool (1963-69). He also worked for a time in Yarmouth (1948-54). Following his time at Blackpool he spent six years as resident chaplain at the Stella Matutina Convent rest home at nearby Ansdell, before serving on the parish staff at St. Wilfrid’s, Preston. He spent the final years of his life in Preston and later Westbourne, where he died on the 23 March 1982. |
