Admin_HistorySydney Boase was born 6th April 1905, in Castries in St Lucia in what was then known as the British West Indies. Boase attended St Stanislaus College, Georgetown. Then he went to Mount St Mary’s. Boase had three brothers and a sister. Boase joined the Noviceship on 7 September 1924 at Manresa House, Roehampton. Boase taught Latin at St John’s (1932-33) and St Michael’s, Leeds (1933-35). From 1935-1941, Boase did Theology at Heythrop and was ordained on 6 September 1938, followed by a year of parish work at Sacred Heart, Leeds. After which, Boase had a rushed tertianship, due to war time conditions at St Bueno’s and made his Final Vows on 2 February 1942. In 1946, Boase began teaching Latin and scripture in Guyana. Boase was a spiritual father to the scholastics at St Stanislaus College in 1959, where he taught for thirty five years and at St Paul’s Seminary. The last eight years of his life were spent in parish and mission work at Buxton and Santa Rosa. Shortly before his death he returned to Brickdam, where he died on 22nd December 1984, and was buried at Georgetown.
