Description
There is a collection of 40 small pocket appointment diaries for the years 1928-1929, 1930-1934, 1938, 1942, 1943, 1946, 1948 and 1950-1976 with two for 1961. There are also diaries and accounts of journeys that D'Arcy took in notebooks and on loose paper including: St Beuno's 1922-1924; Diary 1925-1926; Diary 1931; Diary 1935; Hellenic Cruise 1938; Diary 1939-1940; Diary 1939; Diary 1941; United States of America (1951); Switzerland (1952); British Council Tour in Spain (1952); Japan (1953); Rome (1953); Florence (1954); Los Angeles (1958); Journeyings (1961); Johannesburg (1963); Diary and Journeys 1964. In addition there is a note on Calcutta, a note on the photographer Philippe Halsman (1958), a programme for British Council lectures in Malta, programme for Milan 1953, note on visit to Worcester and a report on 'Experiences in Japan'. Some accounts are incomplete. The diary for 1941 has many loose inserts including a record of the meeting held at Chatham House in 1943 on the 'Impressions of Spain and Portugal, Christmas 1942' by D'Arcy as well as notes on Spain and Portugal and an account of the trip to Lisbon in 1942 and some other notes.
