Admin_History | Fr Edward Callaghan was born in Liverpool in 1921, and went to St Francis Xavier's College. After Philosophy at Heythrop he taught at St Francis Xavier's 1944-1947, then at Sunderland, then Liverpool before going to Theology in 1950. He was ordained in 1952 and remained at Heythrop for two years before going to St Beuno's for Tertianship. From 1955-1969 he worked in Thodesia, at Wedza, then Monte Cassino, then Chishawasha. He was made Superior at the Teacher Training College at St Paul's, Musami, in 1967. He was then appointed to Jesuit Missions in Wimbledon before returning to Umvukwes, Rhodesia in 1972. He was then appointed Superior again at Chishawasha before moving to Braeside and Mount Pleasant for health reasons. He was extremely interested in Charismatic Renewal. In 1977-1978 he went to the USA for a Corporate Ministry Program, and returned to England shortly before he died. |
