Hon. William Towry Law was born on 16 June 1809. He was the son of Edward Law, 1st Baron Ellenborough and Anne Towry. He married, firstly, Hon. Augusta Champagne Graves, daughter of Thomas North Graves, 2nd Lord Graves, Baron of Gravesend and Lady Mary Paget, on 15 March 1831. He married, secondly, Matilda Montgomery, daughter of Sir Henry Montgomery, 1st Bt., on 25 January 1846. He died on 31 October 1886 at age 77.
He was an Officer in the Army between 1825 and 1830, 51st KOYLI and Grenadier Guards.1 He was educated at Peterhouse College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. He was the Vicar at Harborne, Staffordshire, England. He was Chancellor of the Diocese of Bath and Wells. He became a Roman Catholic.
