Admin_HistoryJuan Domingo de Santagata and Lelio Sanguineto obtained two contracts from the King for the supply of 'cuerda y plomo' to the armies. When they died, Santagata made the Scots College (Fr Grant, Rector) his heir and Sanguineto made the Convent of Carmel his heir. The two tried to recover from the King the unpaid monies due to Santagata and Sanguineto for the contracts and for this purpose the royal accounts were examined. From the examination it appeared that Santagata and Sanguineto had been given money on account, and the royal officials claimed that the College owed money to the King for Santagata's debts. Apparently this was settled and all that remained to the College of the Santagata bequests was some juros. The College remained in possession of these until 1749, when a royal decree nullified all juros that had a defective origin. The College juros were included among these, but the Rector appealed against the annullment. The result of the appeal does not appear.
