Description	The Society of St Bernadette was founded primarily to promote the formation of small residential schools for children with learning disabilities and to carry out research into learning disabilities. The work was started in 1960 by Fr Paterson with Bishop Cowderoy's approval. In 1962, the Bishop asked Fr Paterson to take over the Diocesan work for disabled people. Taken from SDA/N/a/6/1.
