DescriptionThe old infirmary buildings on Craig's Road, Nithbank were bought by the Marist Brothers in 1874 and were first used as Provincial House and as a Novitiate. In 1875 however the site became a school and St Joseph's College was founded. The number of students and boarders increased and in 1909 the Brothers constructed a new building on their nearby Mount St Michael compound which became the St Joseph's College which is known today. The Brothers ran the College until 1981 when it passed into the control of the local authority, Dumfries and Galloway Regional Council.
