Title | Sacred Heart Church, Foyers, Inverness-shire, Diocese of Aberdeen |
Date | [20th cent] |
Level | Item |
Description | This item consists of a piece of brown cardboard with a photograph pasted on either side of it, both photographs being of the Sacred Heart Church in Foyers; the front photograph shows a close-up view of the altar, with a statue of the Sacred Heart as the centre-piece; there is a distinctive domed roof above the altar and two windows on either side of the altar filled with sunlight which is reflected up on to the distinctive domed roof; the back photograph is taken from the back of the church and shows a small, simple church with pews on either side of the aisle leading to the altar in the distance, with windows on either side of the altar and also 2 open windows on the right of the church, again letting in sunlight which is reflected up on to the domed roof; the church was built in 1925; the last entry for Foyers in The Catholic Directory for Scotland is in 1971, which indicates that the Sacred Heart Church was served at that time from Stratherrick [and presumably the church closed during that year as there are no further entries in The Catholic Directory for Scotland in subsequent years]. |
