Admin_History | Scots College, Paris bookplate; shelf mark 'II - 58'; The history of this manuscript is not knwon, but there is every probability that it was given to the Scots College, Paris by the Earl of Perth or one of the Drummond Family (who gave both books and manuscripts to the college, and a number are at Blairs). The material exists in several copies (none identical with any other) in the National Library, mainly 'Collections' made by Sir George Mackenzie. This ms has been collated with them. [Notes by Rev William James Anderson, First Keeper of the Scottish Catholic Archives]; The Blairs College ms (containing Mackenzie's genealogies) bears most resemblance to Acc.2849, but even between these two volumes there are differences. Acc.2849 gives more detail on Fleming than all the other manuscripts. The Blairs ms follows Adv Ms 34.13.19 and 32.6.1 for the Fleming section. The Blairs College ms sometimes adds heraldic description at the end of the genealogy, written in French. The Blairs College ms (Genealogie of the Drummonds) (pp189 - ) is not the same as any of the various Advocates' Manuscripts' accounts of the Drummonds, viz 34.6.12., 34.3.24., 34.3.14, 16.1.1., 34.6.9. The facts appear the same and the account is possibly a condensation from one or more of the above accounts. Advocates Manuscript 34.3.24 contains the Strathallan ms cited on p154 of the 'Scottish Family History' ed. S Paul. The appendix to the same volume, Hawthornden's 'Historie of the Familie of Perth' is taken from the Advocates Ms 34.6.9.. The Hawthornden genealogy of the House of Drummond quoted on p154 of 'Scottish Family History' is Advocates Ms 34.6.12 |
