DescriptionThis volume contains correspondence and documents mainly relating to sites at Westminster, the Adelphi, Hill Street, Leicester Square and Tunbridge Wells. The documents are primarily letters but also include financial accounts, bills from builders and estate agents, sales catalogues. The volume contains material relating to the establishment of the Westminster Mission, the chaplaincy at Millbank Penitentiary and at Wormwood Scrubs prison, the Newburgh Trust, the establishment of schools in Gt Peter Street, Westminster, including letters from the architect, E.M. Foxhall. The Westminster letters include some from Fr John Etheridge SJ, Fr George Jenkins SJ and Fr William Rowe SJ. This volume also contains -- letters relating to 7 York Buildings, Adelphi, especially between Fr George Sidgreaves and Blount, Lynch and Petre -- documents relating to the purchase of 9 Hill Street, including correspondence with Fr Randal Lythgoe SJ and with Fr George Jenkins SJ, a catalogue of furniture, and building works done there -- documents relating to 22 Hill Street, including correspondence between Fr Alexander Charnley SJ and Witham, Roskill, Munster and Weld -- correspondence relating to the Leicester Fields Estate, including letters to and from Fr George Sidgreaves and Blount, Lynch and Petre, and Charles Bull -- documents relating to Tunbridge Wells, including to an unauthorised marriage which took place there in 1855.
