DescriptionThis small collection contains the personal papers of Robert Baxendale SJ, including a medical report, studies progress report, correspondence from and about him, and his passport.
Admin_HistoryMr Robert Richard Baxendale was born 6 June 1943 at Longton near Preston, one of six children of Mr and Mrs James Leo Baxendale. He was baptised at St Oswald's, Longton. After the family moved to Fulwood, he won a scholarship to Preston Catholic College.

Robert entered the noviceship at Roehampton on 7 September 1961 and moved with the other novices to Harlaxton in 1962, where he took his first vows. On completing Philosophy at Heythrop, he went to Campion Hall in 1966 to read Physics.

Robert died in an accident on a mountaineering expedition near Chamonix, France, on 10 July 1968. The Requiem Mass took place at Chamonix on 13 July.
