  <dc:title>Correspondence for a special Dinner</dc:title>
<dc:description>A dinner to honour D'Arcy was arranged by his lay friends on 24 July 1950 at Hyde Park Hotel. Tom Burns and Evelyn Waugh appear to have been in charge of organising the occasion and Lord Pakenham presided. There were several speeches by T S Eliot, Douglas Woodruff, Evelyn Waugh and D'Arcy. The file contains letters of acceptance as well as regret and a few letters of praise after the event. There is also a list of guests and an invitation with notes in D'Arcy's hand which may be for his speech. In addition there are several newspaper cuttings.</dc:description>
