  <dc:description>This photograph, of head and shoulders taken in profile, shows a smiling Rev Charles Burns in formal studio pose; Rev Burns was born at Glenboig, Lanarkshire on 27th January 1903 and was ordained priest at Valladolid on 25th May 1929; due to ill health, he had to resign as parish priest of St Martin's, Renton after only a few months there, and he lived in retirement at St Anne's, Musselburgh, where he died on 12th January 1962 aged only 58; further details of Rev Burns' life can be found on pp 305 to 306 of The Catholic Directory for 1963.</dc:description>
