Fr Wright was born 1 April 1864. He was educated at St Francis Xavier’s, Liverpool. He joined the novitiate at the age of 16. His period of teaching was carried out in Malta between 1888 and 1894. In 1899, at the end of his tertianship, he was appointed Prefect of Studies at Preston Catholic College. In 1907 he became Rector. He was also made a Consultor in this year, and in 1915 he became Vice-Provincial when Fr J Browne went to Rome for the election of Fr General. Due to Fr Browne’s health, Wright was necessarily released from his Rectorship, first as Vice-Provincial, and then as Provincial. He remained in this office until 1921. After six months he was made Rector at Stamford Hill. Two years before his death he suffered a stroke and was ordered to the Mediterranean for rest and recuperation. He returned much restored, but while on a visit to the Notre Dame Convent at Ashdown Park he suffered a second and more serious stroke, and he was anointed 18 February. He died 2 March 1926.
