He taught Philosophy to the Stonyhurst Secular Philosophers from 1888 to 1892. He was ordained at St Beuno’s in 1895, and then taught at Stonyhurst again until in 1904 he went to South Africa. He taught at St Aidan’s College in Grahamstown for four years, and was minister for two. On his return to England he taught for about 18 months at Stonyhurst, then went successively to Wimbledon, Preston and Wardour Presbytery. He then succeeded Fr Luck as resident priest at Heythrop before moving to Holywell, where he spent the rest of his life. He was energetic, improving the church there and its associations. He rebuilt the tower, installed electric light at St Winefride’s School and in the Presbytery, improved the well and the shrine of St Winefride and encouraged the Holywell Catholic Young Men’s Society. At the time of his death he was learning Welsh in order to be able to communicate with the population in their own language. He died unexpectedly on 15 January 1928 after a short bout of influenza and pneumonia.</Nationality>
