Paul Miller was born on 16 September 1871 at Preston in Lancashire to a Catholic family. He was educated at Preston Grammar School, and passed the London Matriculation in June 1890. Miller entered the Society at Roehampton on 7 September 1890. He was a Beadle at Roehampton and took his First Vows, then went to Manresa for his juniorate 1892-1894. He studied for the London degree at the Seminary, but having obtained Classical Honours in the Intermediate, did not succeed in the Degree examination. He did one year of philosophy and then in 1896-1897 taught at Wimbledon for a year. He then went back to the Seminary and completed his second and third year of philosophy, where he once more held the office of Beadle, ensuring that things ran smoothly. Then he returned to Wimbledon as Master and remained there until 1903. Miller then took the Short Course in theology at Milltown Park, and was ordained on 29 July 1906. He then taught for a year at Stonyhurst and made his Tertianship at Tronchiennes. He spent the next four years at Beaumont, three of them as Master, one as First Prefect. He took his Final Vows on 2 February 1909. In 1912 Miller was sent to Georgetown, British Guiana [Guyana] to teach in the school there. In 1918 he was acting Headmaster, when the Headmaster Fr Besant SJ went to Barbados to convalesce, and he also undertook the work of a small chapel-at-ease, Kitty Village. In October 1920 Miller had a serious illness, related to his pre-existing malaria. He died in Georgetown on 5 March 1921.
