Fr Francis Xavier Biden SJ was born at Huntingdon, England, on 3 April 1819. He entered the English Province of the Society of Jesus at Tronchiennes, Belgium, on 2 or 3 December 1840, completed his noviceship at Hodder (Lancashire), and returned to Belgium on 14 September 1842, having been changed to the Belgian Province. In his fourth year’s theology he was again transferred back to the English Province. In 1855 he was Prefect of Studies at Mount St Mary’s College, and in 1860 the same at St Aloysius’ College, Glasgow. In April or 8 June 1862, he was professed of the four vows, and died at Stonyhurst, England, on 27 June 1862.
