Fr William Brindle SJ was born 24 July 1824, in Kirkham-in-the-Willows (Lancashire), England. He made his humanity studies at Stonyhurst College, and entered the English Province of the Society of Jesus 11 May 1842 or 1843. He completed his noviceship at Tronchiennes, Belgium, and was made a Spiritual Coadjutor. After teaching a class at St Francis Xavier’s College, Liverpool, he studied philosophy at Namur, Belgium, and made his theology partly at Leuven (Belgium) and at St Beuno’s College. In 1856 he was missioner at Chesterfield until 10 May 1866; in 1868 missioner at Holy Cross, St Helen’s; and in October 1874, Minister and Procurator at St Beuno’s College, North Wales. In 1877 he was taken ill , but partially recovered, and was sent to Liverpool as a missioner in July 1878. He died at Prescot, where he had retired sick, on 30 May 1880.
