Fr John Cross SJ was born 1767, in Ince Blundell (Lancashire), England. He made his humanity studies at Liege Academy, where he filled the office of Prefect, as he did subsequently at Stonyhurst College, and died at Spinkhill (Derby), on 3 or 8 December 1835, after serving the mission there for upwards of thirty years.
