He made his humanities at Stonyhurst College, and entered the English Province of the Society of Jesus at Hodder on 7 September 1839. He was made Spiritual Coadjutor on 15 August 1854. After his higher studies and matriculation at the University of London, and completing his theology at Louvain, he was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest at Tronchiennes, Belgium. He then taught a year or two at Mount St Mary’s College, and became a missioner excurrens to Wingerworth (Derbyshire). In 1848 he was appointed Sub-Minister at Mount St Mary’s College, and at times Prefect of Studies. After his tertianship he was appointed to the Exeter mission. In September 1861, he commenced the new College of St Stanislaus, Beaumont (Old Windsor), of which he was appointed first Rector in December 1864. In November 1867 he was declared Rector of St Ignatius’ College, London, and died at Bournemouth on 8 February 1871. </Nationality>
